These Terms & Conditions explain how our website operates, how you can purchase our wines, and your rights and responsibilities when ordering from us.
Please read them carefully before placing an order.

These terms apply to purchases made through our website by consumers purchasing products for personal use. Separate arrangements may apply to wholesale or other business-to-business orders.
2. Age Restrictions and Responsible Alcohol Sales
We take our responsibilities as an alcohol retailer seriously.
You must be aged 18 or over to purchase wine or any other alcoholic product from Devil’s Hill Vineyard.
By placing an order, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- Any person receiving the alcoholic products will be at least 18 years old.
- You are not purchasing alcohol on behalf of someone under 18.
We may use age-verification measures during checkout and require proof of age before accepting or fulfilling an order.
Our delivery partners may also request suitable proof of age before handing over alcoholic products. We operate an age-verification policy consistent with applicable licensing requirements and may apply a Challenge 25 approach.
If the recipient cannot demonstrate that they are aged 18 or over when required, the delivery will not be completed.
Alcoholic products cannot be left unattended or in an unsecured safe place. They must be handed to an eligible adult in accordance with our delivery arrangements and applicable law.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where we reasonably believe that completing it would breach alcohol licensing requirements.
We encourage customers to enjoy our wines responsibly.
3. Products and Descriptions
We aim to present our wines accurately, including information about the vintage, grape varieties, bottle size, alcohol content and other relevant product characteristics.
However, please note that:
- Wine is a natural agricultural product, and its characteristics can vary between vintages.
- Tasting notes and descriptions are intended as guidance and include subjective assessments.
- Product photographs are illustrative, and packaging or labels may occasionally differ from those displayed.
- All products are subject to availability.
Any material variation from the product ordered will be communicated to you before we fulfil your order. We will not substitute a materially different wine without your agreement.
Our wines may contain allergens, including sulphites. Relevant allergen information will be provided on individual product pages and product labels, as required by law.
If you have an allergy or require further product information, please contact us before ordering.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights to receive goods that are as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
4. Placing an Order
Orders can be placed through our website using the online checkout.
When placing an order, you agree to provide accurate and complete information, including your name, delivery address, email address and contact details.
After submitting your order, you will receive an automated acknowledgement.
An order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.
A contract of sale is formed when we send you an email confirming acceptance of your order.
We reserve the right to decline an order where there is a legitimate reason, including:
- The product is unavailable.
- Payment authorisation is unsuccessful.
- There is a material pricing or product-description error.
- Age-verification requirements cannot be satisfied.
- Delivery cannot legally or reasonably be arranged to the requested location.
- We reasonably suspect fraudulent activity.
If we cannot fulfil an order for which payment has already been taken, we will notify you and arrange a refund of the amount paid for the unfulfilled products.
5. Prices and Payment
All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).
Product prices include any applicable UK taxes. Delivery charges, where applicable, are displayed separately before you complete your purchase.
We reserve the right to update our prices at any time. Price changes will not affect orders that we have already accepted.
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods offered at checkout.
Payments are processed through our selected payment-service providers. We do not store full payment-card details on our website.
If an obvious pricing error is identified before we accept your order, we will contact you and offer the opportunity to proceed at the correct price or cancel your order.
Promotional offers and discount codes are subject to any additional conditions stated alongside the relevant promotion.
6. Delivery
We aim to dispatch orders promptly and deliver our wines safely.
Delivery destinations, charges and available services will be displayed during checkout.
We deliver only to locations supported by our delivery service and where we are legally permitted to supply alcoholic products.
Estimated delivery times will be provided at checkout or in your order confirmation.
While we make reasonable efforts to meet these estimates, occasional delays may arise due to courier disruption, weather conditions, stock availability or other circumstances.
Unless a different delivery period has been agreed with you, we will deliver your order without undue delay and within 30 days of the contract being formed.
If we cannot meet the agreed delivery arrangements, we will contact you to explain the situation and discuss the available options. Your statutory rights concerning late or failed delivery remain unaffected.
Receiving your delivery
An adult aged 18 or over must be available to accept delivery of alcoholic products.
Proof of age may be required.
If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful, the courier may arrange a further attempt or hold the parcel for an approved redelivery or collection arrangement, subject to age-verification requirements.
Additional redelivery charges may apply where clearly notified and permitted by law, particularly where delivery has failed because the recipient could not meet the disclosed age-verification requirements.
We remain responsible for the goods while they are being transported to you. Responsibility for accidental loss or damage passes to you when the goods are delivered to you or a person you have nominated to receive them, other than the courier.
Ownership of the goods passes to you once we have received full payment and the goods have been delivered.
7. Damaged, Incorrect or Missing Products
We take care when packaging our wines, but occasionally an item may be damaged during transit.
If your delivery arrives damaged, contains an incorrect product or is missing an item, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Email: [INSERT CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL]
Please include:
- Your order number.
- A description of the issue.
- Photographs of the damaged bottles or packaging, where possible.
We may ask you to retain damaged packaging or bottles while we investigate the issue.
Where goods are faulty, damaged on delivery, incorrectly supplied or not as described, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights, which may include a refund, replacement or price reduction.
Where a return is necessary because of our error or a product fault, we will cover the reasonable return costs or arrange collection.
We appreciate prompt notification of delivery problems, but failure to report an issue within a particular number of days does not remove your statutory consumer rights.
8. Your Right to Cancel an Online Order
If you are purchasing as a consumer, you generally have the legal right to cancel your online order without giving a reason.
You may cancel at any time before delivery and up to 14 days after the day you receive your goods.
Where products from one order are delivered separately, the cancellation period normally ends 14 days after the day you receive the final item.
To cancel, please notify us by email:
[INSERT CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL]
Include your name, order number and a clear statement that you wish to cancel.
You may also use the model cancellation form provided at the end of these Terms.
Returning cancelled orders
After notifying us of your decision to cancel, you must send the goods back within 14 days.
Unless the goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or we have agreed otherwise, you will be responsible for the direct cost of returning them.
Please package bottles securely to prevent damage during transport. We recommend using a tracked delivery service suitable for shipping glass bottles containing alcohol.
You may inspect the goods as you would reasonably be permitted to do in a shop. If the goods have been handled beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and condition, we may make a deduction for any resulting reduction in value, as permitted by law.
This may include bottles that have been opened or consumed. However, this does not remove your rights where goods are faulty or not as described.
Refunds following cancellation
Where you cancel your entire order under your statutory cancellation rights, we will refund the price paid for the goods together with the standard delivery charge, where applicable.
If you selected a more expensive delivery service, we are not required to refund the additional cost above our standard delivery option.
We will issue the refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the returned goods or receiving satisfactory evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier.
Refunds will normally be made using your original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise.
These cancellation rights are subject to any exceptions provided by applicable law, such as certain genuinely personalised products.
9. Faulty Wine and Your Consumer Rights
We want every customer to enjoy their wine as intended.
If you believe a bottle is faulty, please contact us with your order details and a description of the problem.
Where possible, retain the bottle, closure and remaining contents so that we can assess the issue.
We may request additional information or arrange collection where appropriate.
Your wines must meet the standards required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including being of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
Where a product does not meet these requirements, you may be entitled to a refund, replacement, repair where appropriate, or price reduction under applicable consumer law.
These rights are separate from the 14-day cancellation period for online purchases.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights.
10. Wine Storage and Consumption
Wine should be stored appropriately to maintain its quality.
We recommend storing bottles in a cool, stable environment, away from excessive heat, direct sunlight and significant temperature fluctuations.
Sparkling wine is stored under pressure. Bottles should be opened carefully, with the closure directed away from people and fragile objects.
Customers are responsible for handling and storing products appropriately after delivery.
We cannot accept responsibility for deterioration caused solely by inappropriate storage or handling after delivery. This does not affect your rights where a product was already faulty or otherwise failed to meet statutory requirements at the time of delivery.
Please enjoy alcohol responsibly.
11. Promotions, Discounts and Availability
From time to time, Devil’s Hill Vineyard may offer special promotions, introductory pricing or discount codes.
Unless otherwise stated:
- Promotions are available only during the advertised period.
- Promotional products are subject to availability.
- Discounts cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Promotional codes must be entered at checkout.
- Different offers cannot necessarily be combined.
We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion before an order is accepted, subject to applicable consumer law.
Any restrictions or material conditions will be communicated clearly alongside the relevant offer.
12. Website Use and Intellectual Property
The content of this website, including its written material, photographs, branding, illustrations, graphics and design elements, is owned by Devil’s Hill Vineyard or used with permission from the relevant rights holders.

13. Privacy and Personal Information

Personal information provided when placing an order may be used to:
- Process and fulfil your purchase.

We will only send direct marketing communications where permitted by applicable law.
14. Liability
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our failure to comply with these Terms & Conditions or by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or that arise solely from circumstances outside our control, except where the law provides otherwise.
Our products are intended for personal and domestic use. We do not accept liability for business-related losses arising from consumer purchases, such as lost profits, business interruption or lost commercial opportunities.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Breach of statutory consumer rights.
- Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions periodically to reflect changes in our operations, products, services or legal obligations.
The latest version will be published on this website, with the date of the most recent update shown above.
The terms applicable to your purchase will normally be those in effect when your order is accepted.
Any changes will not retrospectively remove rights you have under an existing contract or applicable law.
17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland, Northern Ireland or another jurisdiction, you retain any mandatory consumer protections applicable to you.
