An expression of English Chardonnay, shaped by the seasons and the distinctive character of our Henley-on-Thames vineyard.
The 2024 growing season was one of patience, perseverance and careful vineyard management. A particularly wet spring gave way to a cool, often unsettled summer, with limited sunshine slowing the development of our Chardonnay grapes.
Warmer conditions in August offered a welcome opportunity for ripening, before exceptionally heavy rainfall returned in September. These challenging conditions demanded close attention in the vineyard, with careful decisions needed to preserve fruit quality and achieve the delicate balance between ripeness and acidity.
For Chardonnay, the cooler growing season favoured the retention of natural acidity, an essential characteristic of fine Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine. The vintage lends itself to a fresh, elegant style, with the potential for bright citrus notes, crisp green apple and delicate orchard fruits, supported by a vibrant mineral-like finish.
The 2024 Blanc de Blancs is an expression of cool-climate elegance — characterised by freshness, finesse and precision rather than overt richness.
